Hello!

Girl K performing at Subterranean March 2018

Hello friends and readers!

This is my very first post on this site, and I would like to share with you what this is all about—what my goals are for this blog, as well as how I plan to create and share great content on a weekly basis. This is my safe place; these are my thought, ideas, interests.

To begin! I am a magazine journalism student at Columbia College Chicago. I love this city. Living in Chicago has been a literal dream come true—I had dreamt about it since I was a kid. The most notable thing about me, though, is the fact that I have a huge passion and desire to support my friends and other small, local artists who do what they love; their excitement and joy for their work helps me thrive in my day-to-day.

Attending shows is my number one favorite thing to do in my free time; advocating for Dimo's Pizza follows closely behind.

That said, this blog is going to be centered around local artists in Chicago's music scene. It is going to highlight various musicians who are just entering the scene, those who are fairly new and those who have been a part of the local music scene for a while now—everything Chicago. Nothing more, nothing less.

I am going to conduct interviews with those artists, capturing just what it is that they are doing as artists, what they want to achieve, their goals and how they are contributing to the scene. The focus is on local music ~only~, so that means if you are an avid supporter of artists, such as Chicago's One and Only Girl K, Speaking With Ghosts, Beach Bunny, Lettering and more, then you are in the right place. This blog will give you, interested readers, an idea of what you can expect going into the local scene, particularly if you are new to all of this. If you are already a Local music friend, here you will find some more features and hot deets on your local faves, and you might even discover someone new to listen to and support.

Not only that, but I also want to highlight the fact that local artists are all about inclusivity and welcoming everyone who wants to be a part of the scene; there is this comfort in knowing you will be accepted and supported, even as you support others/artists there. This is something that continues to draw me in to the local scene to this day. I love the love. I live for the love. Let's all be love.

Lastly, I also have an interest in showcasing the looks and styles—yes, fashion!—of the artists who are performing at local shows. I will be taking photos of their looks, basically just to show more of the creativity and DIY in the local scene. Fashion has always been something that catches my eye, wherever I am, including shows. I always see cute and fun fits at shows, and I think the creativity and Passion For Fashion should be showcased and given more !attention!

Here we are, beginning this thing. I hope you all enjoy, and please, please, please give suggestions on any musicians you know who might be interested in being featured on my blog or just generally anything you might like to see me write/post about here. All suggestions and comments are appreciated. What local bands would you like to see on this blog?

That is all! Thank you for reading, listening, caring.
